NVAL is pleased to announce that our 2024 nonprofit beneficiary is the Marjorie Hughes Fund for Children in Arlington, Virginia. All profits from our 56th annual Holiday Luncheon will be donated to MHF to fund urgent/emergent pediatric dental care and continuity of care with local dentist partners providing care for students at a discounted rate. Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease in the US, costing 34 million lost school hours. This affects mostly low-income students who do not receive regular dental checkups and preventive care.
The Majorie Hughes Fund for Children is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1992 to honor the work of public health physician Marjorie F. Hughes. Dr. Hughes dedicated her career to working with public school students in Arlington, Virginia, and to addressing the health needs of underserved children.
